Our Final of the Club Competition was held on Wednesday night. There was a great turnout with 90% of our members in attendance.
Our Judges on the night were Celbridge members Mark Sedgwick FIPF, E-FIAP & Gerry Kerr AIPF, A-FIAP. Both were panellists in Celbridge’s entry that came 3rd in the World Photography Final last year.
They were meticulous in their judgment & comments, negative points were explained and suggestions given to improve exposures, printing, composition. Members were delighted with feedback & we look forward to having them again next year.
Gary Hill has been the winner of the Club competition for the past 3 years (jointly in 2009) and he was in second place after round 1 to Gary McGivney, he could not catch Gary & was joint 2nd with Brian Seery.
Congratulations to Gary McGivney, our winner. Gary has been a great addition to the club & has been sharing his skills with fellow members since joining. well done Gary & you obtained 3 x 10’s.
Also congratulations to Tracey Gleeson who won our “Beginners†Section.
Whilst the judging was tough and consistent, there were 5 prints that achieved top marks of 10, 13 achieved 9, 18 achieved 8. This was very good scoring in the circumstances, there were many others that merited higher scores but for various reasons the Judges marked down, Fergus was busy taking notes so these prints can be re-visited for our Club’s Panel in the Inter club competition to be held in April for Advanced and non advanced members. Also it was strongly suggested Gary McGivney should enter his Owl print in the All Ireland Nature competition.
The results were;
Advanced Members; 1st Gary McGivney 143, Brian Seery & Gary Hill 129. Fergus Tuomey 121, Sarah Pringle 114, Mark Wilkinson, Michael McDonnell 112,
Non Advanced Members; Tracey Gleeson 112, Caroline Lynch 107, Ursula Harpur 102
