Mullingar Camera Club is about enjoying photography and helping one another improve our photographic skills. Whatever your standard, there is always something to learn.
We meet every Wednesday in the Mullingar Arts Center from 7:30pm. We provide lectures and courses for the members throughout the year. These are usually given by our own members but also by photographers from other clubs and from abroad, who keep us in touch with other approaches to photography.
We offer members the chance to par-take in a studio portrait shoot, allowing members the opportunity to learn all about studio lights and posing and directing models, while learning to take high quality images.
Like most camera clubs, we run regular competitions, aimed mainly at helping our members improve their standards. Members can avail of our studio equipment, and especially our digital darkroom, where they will have use of computers, scanners (for prints, negatives and slides) and a top of the range A3 printer.
Part of the fun is learning to produce your own prints. We organise at least one major exhibition in Mullingar each year. The exhibition venue is usually in the County Council Atrium. Every member will be afforded the opportunity to exhibit a least 2 images.
Our membership is very widely based, taking in Westmeath and all the adjoining counties. We welcome everyone with an interest in photography.
